The City

the city is buzzing and alive
yet the people are asleep and dry
the roads are jammed, yet the drivers are mad
the houses are full yet the families are sad
the kids are playing yet they often do not laugh
what is this place we have created, it lacks humanity and sanity
lets go back to how it was where everything was for a purpose and nothing was for show
where people meant something and weren't just something to fill the place up
where relationships with loved ones mattered more than your social status
when we realised what mattered and what was useless
when we put no judgements in our choices
when we seen everybody for the person they were and not through the colour of their skin
where respect was practised and not just a word we once used
where hatred and greed was very rare and not raging inside every man's stomach
lets go back to how it was, where everything was meaningful, peaceful and pure...
